If Tony Soprano and Dr. Jennifer Melfi had a daughter, she’d be a lot like Lisa Cafiero; pretty, ironic, self-assured, direct, sarcastic, private, Italian, and smart, very smart. Lisa chooses her words carefully, like a material witness on the stand, not wanting to perjure herself. She’s got a problem with dishonesty, and rather than lie-she’ll look for a polite way to say niente. She knows how to give you the silent treatment, the quizzical brow, sideways glance and a knowing smirk. Don’t hold your breath for a full-on Hollywood smile, it’s not in the program. Remember Linda Fiorentino in The Last Seduction? That’s Lisa in eyeliner, trench and high heels, holding a .45 and a suitcase full of loot. Remember Cher in Moonstruck? Withholding, yet revealing, comic, tragic, romantic. Lisa’s a miniature ‘wiseguy’ in a cheerleader’s body. This discrepancy forces her into performing and writing her own observational stand-up. Lisa confesses: ‘I love witty banter.’

Brought up in an intellectually stimulating environment, her Italian dad is a take-no-prisoners psychiatrist with a private practice, who grilled the four Cafiero kids nightly at the dining table on vocabulary. Lisa delicately wields the medical jargon and the quirky, questioning mindset of a shrink’s kid. She has a laser-like B.S. meter. Under the curly locks lurks a mind that is easily bored and craves a challenge. Not a fluffy girl, she’s more the wash and wear type. Private, and too calm for her years, smooth-on-the-surface, driven-on-the-inside s comedic talent Cafiero has something special.

She’s charismatic and gutsy. Growing up in Virginia Beach, graduated ODU with honors, her spunky personality led her into comedy, landing her a role touring with an Improvisational Comedy Group. With four years experience as a nationwide host for Toyota Scion, she entertained audiences with her playful barbs and crooked smile. As a standup comic, she performs on both coasts in clubs such as The Comedy Store, Hollywood Improv, The Icehouse, Garrett Morris’ Downtown Comedy Club, and HA! Comedy Club NYC.  She is currently producing and performing in an ongoing standup comedy show “6 Chicks & a Chair” that just showcased at the Hollywood Improv.

Lisa’s in her element with an audience, any audience, small or large.
